New PCs are supplied with large hard drives, with the operating system and applications pre-installed. Your drive is divided up, or partitioned, and pre-configured in number of smaller sections or as one large continuous block.
Before you start installing software, you may want to spend time creating your own partitions or removing pre-configured areas. Unfortunately, there isn’t a straight-forward way of doing this using the tools provided with Windows.
O&O Partition Manager is designed a similar manner to the Windows Disk Manager and includes a number of more advanced functions which give you more flexibility when managing your drive and its partitions. The application supports numerous disk types including MBR, GPT, USB memory sticks and a selection of memory cards.
You can easily change the size of any partition, so you can divide a large 500GB hard drive into a number of smaller ones. Dividing your drive helps you to more effectively manage data, for instance, you can create a partition for your operating system and create a backup spare partition for emergencies.
