Wozniak's son wins battle to use Mac laptop in finals

by James Harding in Silicon Valley

The son of Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak has won approval from his university to use his Macintosh laptop in his law finals.

Duke University had banned Adam Wozniak from using his Mac in his finals this week (see VNU Newswire, 5 December) and was faced with the prospect of using pen and paper in his exams. But Wozniak senior appealed to Mac enthusiasts to find a way of satisfying professors that Macs can be made legal for the exams and had around 100 responses.

Adam Wozniak said the university had approved one plan to adapt the Mac OS. ?I need to talk with the Dean of Student Affairs to confirm testing procedures and set up a meeting with the rest of the Mac users of the school.?

Steve Wozniak thanked the Mac faithful for their help and said the university had been flexible. ?They are not all unwilling to listen and neither should we,? he said. ?I was glad that my son took on a pro-Mac charge to battle platform discrimination.?
