A US podcaster who was using the domain name 'thesimpsonsmovie.com' to
attract internet users to his show has lost the right to the name.
Keith Malley, who creates the popular
Keith
and the Girl podcast, was told by the
World
Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) that he must hand the domain over
to
20th
Century Fox.
The WIPO arbitrator called the New Yorker's purchase of the web address a "
bad faith registration and use" and said in the ruling that it amounted to "
cyber-squatting".
The Simpsons' trademark holder, 20th Century Fox, which is owned by
News
Corp, took the case to WIPO's arbitration service in May 2007.
The
Simpsons Movie opens on 27 July in cinemas around the world.
