Asus confirms desktop Ebox rumours

Debut scheduled for Computex on 3 June

Asus has confirmed rumours that it will unveil a desktop version of its EeePC at the upcoming Computex show in Taipei on 3 June.

Formerly known as the Eee DT, the new device has been dubbed the Ebox.

Strongly resembling the Nintendo Wii, the Ebox will sport a 160GB hard drive, 2GB of Ram and the same customised version of Xandros Linux found on its portable predecessor.

Other specifications are still under wraps, including the processor, although it is expected to use Intel's new Atom CPU.

Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but reports suggest that the Ebox will be cheaper than the EeePC as it lacks component overheads such as a screen or keyboard.
