Apple's iPhone 3G update is receiving mixed reactions

Users unimpressed with iPhone update

3G reception errors not fixed, say disgruntled owners

Apple has posted an update to address a range of problems with the iPhone 3G.

The company issued the 2.0.2 update on 19 August in an attempt to fix a number of bugs with the handset.

Details on the update were sketchy, and Apple gave no particulars beyond " bug fixes".

However, it appears that the update does not address the highly-publicised 3G reception errors reported by users.

While many documented issues with the handset were addressed, many users have reported little to no improvement in the performance of the iPhone's 3G connection.

Comments from users and reporters at several Apple enthusiast and tech news sites, along with multiple posts to Apple's support forums, suggest that many iPhone owners are not happy with the update.

While some users in the forum claim to have seen an improvement in 3G reception, many others say that there is no change.

3G performance has been a major issue for the iPhone 3G. Analyst and media reports point to faulty 3G hardware from Infineon, which supplies the antennas for the iPhone.

Users can download the iPhone 3G 2.0.2 update through the iTunes service on Mac OS or Windows.
