The long-awaited first device to run Google's Android mobile phone platform will cost $199, according to new reports in The Wall Street Journal.

The invitations, which have been republished in various quarters, state: 'Hear from T-Mobile, Google and other company executives as they unveil the phone, and come experience the device first hand.'

Both T-Mobile and Google continue to maintain that the release date for Android is still set for some time in the fourth quarter this year.
