Microsoft has launched an SQL Server 2008 Experience web site offering new resources for customers and partners.

The site is laden with information and is designed to be interesting, rewarding and informative, according to Microsoft, and is available in 11 languages.

Three separate sections offer specific information for IT Professionals, Decision Makers and Developers. Other content is designed to appeal to all and comes under the 'For Fun' banner.

A note on the site's front page reads: "For IT Professionals and Developers we have a series of brief and insightful interviews with the SQL Server Engineering team discussing the many technologies in SQL Server 2008.

"For Decision Makers we have short videos which go 'behind the scenes' with our customers and show how they are using SQL Server 2008 to tackle some big challenges.

"And finally, we also have some video snippets for fun which we hope you will enjoy."

The web site went live at 8am Pacific Standard Time, and is designed to help customers learn more about the recently launched business intelligence and data management capabilities in SQL Server 2008.

Included in the site's content will be interviews with the engineering team, who will provide an under-the-hood look at the server and its technologies, and a wide range of tutorial videos covering the new features.

Microsoft said that these would include guidance and case study-like information from existing customers such as Xerox.

To complement this, cheaper deals on products and accompanying literature will also be available.
