Freedom4 dongle offers Wi-Fi/3G mix

Best possible mobile wireless connection, claims firm

Written by David Neal

Freedom4, the company formerly known as Pipex, has launched a new service that it says gives customers the best possible mobile wireless connection.

The ISP's do-all dongle offers both 3G and Wi-Fi software and automatically selects the best and highest quality connection at any location.

On top of this, the Freedom4 Mobile Broadband 1000 service also offers a hotspot location finder and text service that alerts users of the nearest connection.

With the choice between Wi-Fi and 3G connection, the firm claims to be able to cover almost 99 per cent of the UK population.

In order to increase the number of available hotspots, Freedom4 has signed up to roaming partnerships with Spectrum Interactive and Briteyellow to offer a claimed 4,000 UK hotspots and 50,000 globally.

Richard Cunliffe, chief operating officer at Freedom4 WiFi, said: "Our customers want the fastest possible download speeds available in the UK whilst on the move.

"We are committed to providing a high quality service and our research has shown that the new combined package can provide speeds significantly faster than other mobile broadband products in the marketplace."

Pricing for the service starts at £25 a month which includes a dongle and a choice of 1,000MB of 3G or 1,000 Wi-Fi minutes.
