The annual
RSA
Conference Europe kicks off in London on Monday, with industry experts and
legislators including European data protection supervisor Peter Hustinx and
encryption
expert Bruce Schneier slated to present.
This year's conference will again feature issues of data security in the
track sessions and keynotes, according to conference manager Linda Lynch.
"There will be an opening panel debate on data security regulations with a
panellist from the European Commission looking at the issue from a legal
framework perspective," she explained.
"Meanwhile, Information Commissioner Richard Thomas will be looking at how we
can learn from the mistakes made so spectacularly in recent months, and his
strengthening role."
Other emerging themes to be covered at the conference include
security-as-a-service, security virtualisation, and an update on the European
Commission's plans to compel certain firms to disclose data breaches.
